Stomach Sleeper?

EVERYTHING you read now advises to only have your baby on their back to sleep.  I get it.  I do it.  My son has always been put on his back to sleep.  But what about when they move to their stomach on their own??  Just when I thought my worrying as a mother was calming down and I was getting into the swing of things.  NOT

Now that baby boy can roll over to his belly on his own he doesn’t know how to stop.  He doesn’t really enjoy being on his stomach but does that stop him?  No.  So he starts doing it at night and we have to make the trek from our bedroom to his nursery many times at night to roll him back over so he can fall asleep.  So one time we just decided to see what would happen if we didn’t roll him back.  After a little fussing, he eventually fell asleep (what????).  I didn’t think that was possible!!!

I was very nervous.  My husband and parents can attest to that.  Will he still be able to breathe?…will he fall asleep face down?…will he graduate from high school?…(oh wait, never mind that last one).  So I watched him one time he fell asleep on his face and the smarty pants eventually moved his head and laid it to the side so he could breathe better.  Whew…..

It took him about a week to get used to sleeping on his stomach and not wake up as much, but now he is good to go!  He doesn’t fall asleep on his back anymore.  Granted he can’t roll back to his back yet, so he is kinda stuck there.  But he is back to his good ol’ sleeping habits, and mommy is slowly getting back to hers…
